Education and Policies
General Policies
At St Mary's Day Nursery, our policy is to ensure that the care and education we give your child is of the highest quality and that it is consistently applied throughout the nursery. We have a series of policies and procedures to meet the needs of our parents, our children and the National Day Care standards.
Some of our policies include a comprehensive health and safety policy, food and drink policy, settling in policy, confidentiality policy, equal opportunities policy, Medication and illness polcies, staffing and employment policy, training and development policy and student placement policy. We work closely with the Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership, local environmental health department and the fire department to ensure that our procedures in these areas are continually monitored and reviewed for the safety of your child, our staff and our nursery.
Quality & Standards
To ensure that we work above and beyond the National Day Care Standards, and to ensure the quality of the provision at St Mary's, we have in place a comprehensive operational plan which include policies and procedures on areas such as child protection, uncollected children, equal opportunities, special needs, behaviour, parental involvement and a comments, compliments and complaints procedure. We work closely with the local Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership to constantly review and reflect on our good practice.
Education / Curriculum
For children between the ages of 6 weeks and 3 years, the nursery provides a curriculum based on the framework 'Birth to three - matters' to support children in their earliest years.
Through the different aspects of this framework, our staff will support and stimulate your child as they develop:
Strength
Communication skills
Learning abilities
Health
Our team plans, monitors, evaluates and delivers a thorough and varied curriculum which ensures that your child's experiences are exciting, stimulating and fun.
Our older children follow the National Guidance for the Foundation Stage Curriculum to ensure that our children have all the experiences and learning opportunities to enable them to reach the required early learning goals for all three and four year olds. Our Early Years Policy sets the framework for our educational provision.
